Technical Database Administrator

Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Technical Database Administrator to join our team. The role involves installing, configuring, and maintaining databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle, ensuring performance, reliability, and data security. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of relevant experience, a strong grasp of PostgreSQL, and hands-on skills in performance tuning and backup strategies. Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and automation scripting (Python, Bash) is a plus. This role requires collaboration with developers, DevOps, and engineering teams to optimize and support our database infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and upgrade database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle).
• Maintain and improve database architecture for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Monitor database health, optimize queries, and support data indexing and storage strategies.
• Manage routine maintenance – backups, patching, and disaster recovery.
• Implement strong data security and access controls to comply with privacy regulations (PDPA, etc.).
• Work closely with our developers to design efficient schemas, write procedures, and optimize queries.
• Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide timely resolutions.
• Document database structures, processes, and access control for internal reference.
• Collaborate with DevOps and Engineering on deployments and CI/CD pipelines.
• Carry out all proper and reasonable instructions from immediate Supervisor or designate or Company.

Position Requirement & Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.
• 3–5 years of experience in a DBA or similar technical role.
• Strong working knowledge of PostgreSQL or equivalent relational DBs.
• Familiar with performance tuning, replication, and backup strategies.
• Experience working in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) is an advantage.
• Bonus if familiar with scripting (Python, Bash) for automation.
